3 surprising things you should know about my newborn photoshoots

As a professional newborn photographer, I understand the importance of capturing those precious moments and memories, and I take great care to create a relaxed and comfortable environment for your photoshoot. Getting fantastic photos at the end of your session is a given but there are also some there are a number of soft benefits that go beyond simply capturing beautiful images of your baby.

1. It’s really enjoyable (for dad’s too!!)

When it comes to newborn photography, mums are often the ones who are most excited about the session. However the majority of dads tell me that they enjoyed the photoshoot too! They love seeing their little one all calm and serene in their cute little poses. And as a photographer, I make sure to involve dads in the session as much as possible and there’s always a selection of just dad and baby photos in the final gallery.

2. I help to soothe the baby

As a newborn photographer, I understand the importance of creating a calm and peaceful environment for your baby during their photoshoot. That's why I take the time to teach parents how to swaddle their baby and offer tips on how to keep them calm and content throughout the session.

Swaddling is a technique that involves wrapping your baby snugly in a wrap, mimicking the sensation of being in the womb. It can help to soothe your baby and prevent them from being startled by their own movements. During your photoshoot, I'll demonstrate how to swaddle your baby and offer guidance on how to do it effectively.

In addition to swaddling, I use a variety of techniques to help calm your baby during their photoshoot. This might include using white noise or gently rocking your baby to help them relax. I also take breaks as needed to feed or change your baby, ensuring that they stay comfortable and content throughout the session.

By sharing these techniques with parents, I hope to empower them with the tools they need to keep their baby calm and happy at home. It's a small but important part of my approach to newborn photography, and one that can make a big difference in the overall experience for both you and your baby.

3. I feed my clients during the session

A newborn photoshoot can be a long process, and as a photographer, I never want my clients to feel hungry or uncomfortable. That's why I make sure to provide snacks and drinks during the session. As a new parent, your energy goes into feeding and caring for your brand new baby, and your own needs can become low on the list of priorities. I want my clients to feel taken care of and comfortable throughout the session, so they can focus on enjoying the experience. Just let me know if you’re a vegetarian or have any dietary requirements!

As a newborn photographer, my ultimate goal is to create stunning images that capture the essence of your baby and your family in this special moment in time. But equally important to me is ensuring that you have a positive and enjoyable experience throughout the entire process.

I understand that having a newborn can be a challenging and overwhelming time, and that's why I strive to make your photoshoot as stress-free and comfortable as possible – and even fun! From the moment you arrive at my studio, I'll work to create a welcoming and calming atmosphere that puts you and your baby at ease.

My hope is that by the end of the session, you'll feel not only thrilled with the beautiful images we've created, but also with the entire experience. I want you to leave my studio feeling happy, relaxed, and confident that you've chosen the right photographer to capture these special moments in your family's life.

Best wishes,
