It's a chance to capture beautiful memories with your loved ones in a natural setting, but it can also be overwhelming to plan and prepare for the shoot. That's why I've put together these 5 steps to help you make the most of your outdoor family photoshoot. From choosing the perfect location to picking the right outfits, these tips will ensure that your photoshoot is not only successful but also fun and memorable. So, let's dive in and get started!

Step 1: Location

When it comes to outdoor family photoshoots, location is everything. Think about the kind of setting you want for your photos - do you want to be surrounded by trees, near the water or in a field of wildflowers or long grasses? Consider the time of day you plan to have your photoshoot as well, as different locations can have different lighting conditions at different times of the day.

Step 2: What to Wear

When it comes to picking outfits for your outdoor family photoshoot, less is often more. Stick to simple, timeless styles that won't date your photos, and avoid busy patterns that can be distracting. Coordinating colours and tones can make your photos look more cohesive, but don't feel like you need to match everyone's outfits exactly. Be sure to choose clothing that's comfortable for everyone, especially if you'll be walking or moving around during the photoshoot. If you’re unsure then just send me a photo of the clothes you have in mind and I can advise you from there.

Step 3: Special Requests

I’m here to help you capture beautiful memories, so if you have any special requests, then please do communicate your vision and ideas to me beforehand. Share your thoughts on the type of photos you want, and any particular shots you have in mind. Don't be afraid, even if it’s something that might sound silly, I’m all in!!

Step 4: Prepare your family

Getting the family ready for a photoshoot can be a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be. Make sure everyone is well-rested and fed before the shoot, and bring snacks and drinks along to keep energy levels up. Encourage your family to relax and have fun during the photoshoot - the more natural and comfortable everyone is, the better the photos will turn out.

Step 5: Enjoy the moment

Finally, the most important step of all - enjoy the moment! A family photoshoot is a chance to create lasting memories with your loved ones, so don't stress too much about the details. Have fun with your family, and let the moments unfold naturally. When you look back at your photos, you'll be grateful for the memories you've created and the beautiful photos that capture them.
